Latinos for Tennessee Urges Passage of HB2414

Nashville, Tennessee – Today, Raul Lopez, Executive Director for Latinos for Tennessee, a statewide organization dedicated to promoting and defending faith, family, freedom and fiscal responsibility to the Latino community in Tennessee issued a statement concerning Tennessee House Bill 2414, a bill that, if enacted, would require students to use gender appropriate restrooms and locker rooms in public schools and public institutions of higher education.

“We must respectfully disagree with those that claim that one’s gender is a choice and merely ‘an assignment’ open for interpretation. There are differences between the two genders that make clear that sex is an objective biological reality. We applaud Members of the Tennessee House that are standing up for common sense by ensuring that Tennessee students will continue going to bathrooms, according to their gender at birth.”

Lopez went on to add:

“Despite last week’s setback, we urge all Members of the Tennessee Legislature to renew their commitment to pass this bill for the good of our children and Tennessee families all across our state.”
