Dangerous illegal drugs from China are flooding our borders – and they could be in your medicine cabinet right now.

The Truth Behind Compounded Weight Loss Drugs

Imitation weight loss drugs use illegal ingredients from China that aren’t even made for humans.

International criminal networks are exploiting global supply chains to smuggle fake weight-loss drugs into the U.S. from China. These dangerous ingredients are infiltrating our drug supply through “compounded” versions of GLP-1 anti-obesity medications. China has already sent enough fake drug products to make 1.5 billion doses and counting.

Compounded GLP-1s are NOT generic drugs and they’re NOT safe. These products are being made with raw ingredients often sourced from shady, unauthorized suppliers outside the United States in places like China. In many cases, those ingredients are meant for animals – not humans – yet millions of Americans unknowingly inject them into their bodies every week.

This is a national drug safety emergency.

And it’s already inside our homes.

That’s why 38 state Attorneys General, led by Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, have called on the FDA to work with federal partners like the Department of Homeland Security to “intercept counterfeit GLP-1 drugs before they reach unsuspecting consumers” as a way to address risks posed by the sale of these illegal and unregulated products.
